Hi, I’m Angela! I am an art therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor working with children, teens, and young adults. I have provided counseling in schools, residential settings, and acute care facilities. I have experience providing interventions on a variety of topics including but not limited to adjustment, anxiety, behavior disorders, chronic illness, depression, college/ career exploration, family issues, grief and loss, relationships, self-esteem, stress-management, and trauma.
My goals are to help children, teens, and young adults understand their current ways of thinking and behaving and develop the tools and skills to implement solutions. I draw upon Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Gestalt, Humanistic, and Person-Centered approaches to suit the specific needs of the client. At times, I incorporate art therapy techniques to enhance the therapeutic experience but do not worry, you do not need to be an artist to participate in art therapy or reap the benefits. Creativity, imagination, and the ability to express oneself, are innate human qualities which can be nurtured for personal growth and development. Individuals should be treated with unconditional positive regard and have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. I believe in meeting people where they are on their journey. I am committed to creating a safe space for children, teens, and young adults to explore thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and practice new skills.
In my free time I like to make art, see live music, spend time in nature, watch movies, and go antiquing. I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, our dog, and two cats.
