Hi, I’m Janelle! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor working with adolescents, adults, couples and families. My professional experience includes 15 years in the fields of drug and alcohol as well as mental health and relational counseling in a variety of settings including private practice, inpatient, intensive outpatient, and in the home. My personal experience includes 20+ years of marriage and three teenage sons!
I believe each individual, couple, family has such a tremendous capacity for growth and wholeness, but we don’t live in a vacuum. I use a systems approach which means I believe even the “personal” problems we face in life are affected by our larger life situations including the culture, community, and relationships we live in. Seeing the bigger picture means understanding better what is contributing to a problem and what approaches may or may not work to fix it. It also means strengthening your relationships to help you achieve the goals and changes you want to make. I draw from a number of different approaches including systemic theory, CBT, Emotionally Focused, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I am a certified Prepare and Enrich Premarital Facilitator and have completed my Level 1 Gottman Couples Therapy Certification.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, the gym, and trying new restaurants.
