Hi, I’m Mary! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 30 years of experience working in public school, community college, university and private practice settings. The majority of my work has been with young adults, and I have experience with clients as young as 5 to those in their retirement years. I believe that my work has kept my spirit young and I am as passionate about my work as I was when I began my career.
I work most commonly with clients affected by anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, separation and divorce, trauma, life changes, and women’s issues. I have a certification as an Integrative Mental Health Professional and use that to help inform the impact of nutrition and lifestyle on mental health and wellness.
I pull from many therapeutic approaches, including CBT, mindfulness, Gestalt, somatic interventions, person-centered and solution-focused therapies. I incorporate exploration of family of origin in helping to gain insight into current issues. I believe that a genuine relationship between therapist and client is the most effective source of change and view my clients from a strengths-based perspective. Most of our habits and ways of coping, both healthy and unhealthy, have developed in part from our experiences. I can help you decide what behaviors no longer serve you in your life goals and find ways to work with your strengths to build new strategies and skills within a safe and supportive environment.
On the flip side, I am a Master Gardener and plant geek, writer, speaker, lover of trails seldom traveled and minion to cats. I love spending time outdoors, traveling with my partner and making memories with family and friends.
