Teletherapy (or Therapy via Video) is one of the best things to come from the changes in technology over the years.
There are a number of people for one reason or another who aren’t able to come in for traditional counseling at the P & FS office. For those who are homebound due to medical or psychological reasons, Teletherapy opens up access to counseling that was not previously available.
For those people, our counselors are licensed to provide online counseling to residents of the state of Pennsylvania using Simple Practice Telehealth. Simple Practice is a Secure, HIPAA-compliant, user-friendly solution that allows our clients to meet with their counselor from the comfort of their own home via a secure web-portal.
Things to Know:
Insurance Benefits – Some insurance companies cover Teletherapy whereas others do not. It is the client’s responsibility to know their benefits and what is covered in network under their plan. Just because we are in-network with your main insurance carrier does not necessarily mean that they will also cover Teletherapy with us.
Technology Requirements – Simple Practice DOES work in Safari on your Apple computer. Simple Practice will work perfectly well in Firefox or Chrome, and can be downloaded for use on an Apple computer. If you are trying to access Simple Practice from an iPhone or iPad, you will need to download the Simple Practice Telehealth app.
Connectivity – When using Simple Practice Telehealth, the more bandwidth you have, the better the video connection will be during the session. Connecting to a secure Wi-Fi signal will vastly improve your connectivity.
