Matthew Erford, LPC

Hi, I'm Matt! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 9 years of experience working with families, children, adolescents, and young adults. I enjoy helping families work on communication and relationships as well as supporting teens and young adults through the pressures and transitions of building an independent life with meaning and purpose.

My approach is typically flexible, depending on your needs, and often blends Person-CenteredTherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy — all grounded in unconditional positive regard. I strive to adapt to what each client actually needs, whether that's practical skill-building or simply sitting with a difficult feeling together. I believe in meeting you where you are and helping you find your own path forward — built on respect, dignity, and acceptance.

I work with clients on communication skills and boundary setting, self-esteem and managing expectations, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and recognizing reoccurring patterns that continue to show up. I know how heavy the pressure of being young today can feel, and how frustrating it is to feel stuck even after trying hard and doing your best. My hope is that you leave our work together with a better understanding of who you are, what is important to you, and real hope that change is possible.

In my free time I enjoy fitness, weight training, running, biking, and volleyball. I also value quality time with friends and, when I get the chance, unwinding with video games.
